@aplusproresume
I agree completely.
There needs to be detailed specifications and clarification, which is difficult to transfer due to our primitive ambiguous language and dialect.

@delacerdaa You can get a programming job without a degree. However having a 4 year degree will make it much easier to get your first job.

@BeyondDGrave Communication skills are critical to becoming a successful programmer. This is the one area where an American has an advantage over overseas developers.

A programmer isn’t necessarily an audio/video pro. I have done work in audio and Pro Tools and that takes a lot of non-programming time and work to get okay at.

@DoctrinaBytes Most …
@DoctrinaBytes Most commercial/corporate programming you do will have very little math. Mostly, you will be making proprietary applications to meet business needs. i.e. if the company you work for sells medical supplies, you might write an application that allows your customers to log in and place orders. Or, you might write an application to handle the billing.

I have not heard great things about the Programmers from India.

@DoctrinaBytes But …
@DoctrinaBytes But my most important abut this subject is that the idea that you are not good at math is usually not reality. Usually as some point in your life you accepted the idea that you were weak in math. If you simply open your mind to the idea that you can be excellent at math you will be able to make quick progress in your level of math ability. This is true for 99% of people. Good luck.

@DoctrinaBytes I’ve …
@DoctrinaBytes I’ve been a programmer for 10 years and I’ve never used math beyond an 8th grade level. There are some kinds of jobs that would require much more intensive math skills but my guess is that the majority of software development positions require minimum level of day to day math skills. Now the reason that math skills and programming seem to go hand in hand is that success with math is an indicator that you will be successful in programming.
